Shrimping
Shrimping is part of the Creole Nature Trail’s treasured heritage, and it’s an activity the whole family will enjoy. Two roadside recreation areas — Blue Crab and Hog Island Gully, part of the Sabine NWR — make it easy and accessible. All you need is a fishing license, a five-gallon bucket, a cast net and an appetite for fun. If the shrimp are “running,” it’s a real treat to see how quickly your bounty accumulates — and to anticipate the joy of eating it!
If you’d rather buy fresh shrimp, there are several stores along the Creole Nature Trail that sell fresh shrimp during season. For a list of locations, click here.
