  • Sulphur to Holly Beach From Interstate 10 to the Gulf of Mexico, this leg of the trail encompasses farm lands, fresh and brackish marshes and natural sand beaches. On this route, you will visit the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge, including the 1.5 mile long Wetland Walkway and several other recreation areas perfect for fishing, crabbing and birdwatching.
  • Holly Beach to Oak Grove A winding drive near the edge of the Gulf of Mexico, this leg of the trail is primarily saltwater marsh, natural sand beaches and a first-hand view of the commerical fishing and oil & gas industries...plus a trip across the Calcasieu Ship Channel on a ferry!
  • Oak Grove to Lake Charles From brackish marshes, to freshwater marshes, to flat plains of farmland, this leg of the trail is truly diverse. Passing over the Intracoastal Canal on the Gibbstown Bridge the landscape changes dramatically. Pintail Wildlife Drive as well as the Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge headquarters are just north of the bridge.
  • Oak Grove to Rockefeller Refuge Oak cheniers and alligators! The winding route is a great view of oak cheniers growing on the ridges for which they are named. At Rockefeller Refuge, alligators are the item of interest as this is a premier alligator research facility with several recreation areas perfect for fishing and crabbing.
  • Holly Beach to Texas line Winding along the coast road, the Gulf of Mexico is almost always in sight. From Johnson's Bayou to the Sabine bridge into Texas is a bit of a journey, but always you the opportunity to take in the Sabine Pass Lighthouse.
  • Cameron Prairie to Lacassine NWR Venturing through freshwater marsh and coastal plains which turn into heavily wooded bayous, this winding route is very scenic and leads to the Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge offering recreational activites such as fishing and birdwatching.
